Who Are the Filipino Youth Today?

 

The Filipino youth for me are empowered. They are aware of their rights and are willing to fight for them. They are aware of what is true and are willing to speak out their mind.

We are citizens who hold diverse opinions. We stand not for injustice, and we are not afraid to voice out in order to fight for what is right. We stand by what we believe in and are the future leaders who aspire to inspire through the little actions we make.

For me, the Filipino youth today are made up of those who are “woke,” that is, those who are aware of everything that is happening around them, because of the power of social media. The Filipino youth today are not afraid to engage and to take part at social or political issues and are very much aware that they will be the future of our country.

The Filipino youth today are a group of citizens who know their rights and are willing to fight for them. They recognize that they are able to challenge the barriers that keep them down, that keep them from conforming to their values. The Filipino youth do not shy away from the spotlight when it comes to acknowledging injustice and doing something about it when they see it.

The Filipino youth today are composed of active leaders who are making their mark in our society. These leaders are socially aware, and they do everything they can to help. They let their voices be heard and be used for the greater good.

The Filipino youth today consist of ambitious and innovative individuals who are preparing to immerse themselves in a highly digital and globalized world. With technology and information having paramount value, they tend to be more tech-savvy and computer literate. These characteristics, coupled with the idea that they are more daring and adventurous, depict them as persons who aim to solve societal issues in a modern way with hopes of becoming drivers of change.

We are capable of doing amazing things. Pliant and malleable, we work with change. Moreover, we fight for what is right and just. Yes, we do and say good and bad things, just like everyone else, but if you listen and understand us, and if given more opportunity, we, the Filipino youth of today, have the potential to bring change in our country and the world. I hope this quote from Pope Francis will motivate us and empower us to be instruments of positive change: “Dear young people, do not bury your talents, the gifts that God has given you! Do not be afraid to dream of great things!”

The Filipino youth today are boys and girls who come from various backgrounds, rich and poor, born with great potential and expectation. This potential stems not from the way technology has been made easily available, but from the awareness media provide them. On the other hand, the expectation from this youth arises from their ability to speak up. The Filipino youth are those in the process of accomplishing and surpassing the goals set out for every Filipino, and those who have a powerful impact on the nation.

The Filipino youth of today are determined, ambitious, and brave. They do not hesitate to take a stand for what is right after thinking rationally about the causes they stand for. I believe that the Filipino youth can create a change in our country, a change that will make the Philippines a better place.

The Filipino youth today are the reflection of what has become of the Philippines and of the world. Today we stand as individuals with perceptions based on our own beliefs of the present and deeply-rooted ideals stemming from the past; we are both united and self-sufficient, each one seeking to be heard and to be known. The Filipino youth today are but the future of a nation standing strong amidst all the hardships and trials, and this nation will continue to stand no matter what through the endurance of its people.

The Filipino youth today are the hope of tomorrow. The dedication, passion, and courage of the Filipino youth will lead this nation toward the fulfillment of the country’s hopes, dreams, and aspirations. For without them, we could not dream of a brighter future for our motherland.

The Filipino youth today are passionately sagacious in working with other men without compromising humanity and integrity. They behave with dignity and truly live out the truth. They encouragingly influence others to be the youth that they desire to be.

They formulate their ideas in the libraries, coffee shops, and study tables, believing that there is something that they can offer to solve the problems of today. The evils in society challenge the Filipino youth’s pursuit of a harmonious and inclusive society, livable for all. Their hopeful spirits remain, their morals boosted by their family, their comrades, their mentors, and the Almighty.

The Filipino youth today still have the same meaning as before, the one given by Dr. Jose Rizal: They are the hope of our motherland. Hence, to qualify as the hope of our nation, the Filipino youth need to be trained not just to be intelligent but also to be better persons.
