The UA&P School of Education and Human Development (SED), in partnership with Widya Mandala Catholic University of Surabaya (WMCUS) in Indonesia, organized a study tour in the Philippines for the graduate students of WMCUS’ Master in English Language Education (MPBI) from June 24 to 28, 2019.
Six graduate students together with MPBI head Dr. Hendra Tedjasuksmana and WMCUS Graduate School Assistant Director Dr. Susana Teopilus engaged in a week-long activity, which includes seminar-workshops, school visits, classroom observations, and a cultural tour.

On the first two days, they attended seminar-workshops on “A Well-Managed Classroom” and “Purposeful Leaders, Effective Schools” facilitated by SED faculty member Ms. Concha de la Cruz and SED Dean Dr. Celerino Tiongco. The group also visited Tanghalang Pasigueño, the Pasig City Hall Library and Exhibit, the Pasig City Command Center, and the Pasig Cathedral.


On June 26, they went to the University of Santo Tomas for a workshop and had a tour of Old Manila, where they visited San Agustin Church, Baluarte de San Diego, Manila Cathedral, Fort Santiago, and Luneta Park (outside the Walled City).
The following day, they visited the Presidential Library and Museum and benchmarked on some Pasig City schools, such as St. Paul College Pasig and Lourdes School of Mandaluyong. It was capped off by an awarding ceremony in the afternoon with UA&P President Dr. Winston Conrad Padojinog in attendance.
On June 28, they went to Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bagac, Bataan for a heritage walking tour. Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar is a property that features intricately crafted and restored heritage houses.
