Ladies and gentlemen:
A decade and two scores ago, we had a dream of a university that
- Provides a liberal education for all, while giving impetus to several graduate schools, specializing in different fields of endeavor;
- Passionately cares about details of perfection that embroider all facets of life and work, while being attentive to the wider canvas of society and of the world where it seeks to make a positive difference; and
- Permanently grounded on faith and doctrine, while flying off with reason and science in exploring more effective ways by which genuine progress can be attained.
We bow in thanksgiving to God. Despite all the imperfections and imperatives for improvement on the part of our human condition, we give thanks, for that dream we had 50 years ago has taken on flesh and substance. It has been realized in what today is the University of Asia & the Pacific.
Today, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the foundation of CRC, for the five decades ahead, we have this dream for UA&P: that it
- Trains a laser focus on securing full strength and efficacy for all its internal processes, which deliver the highest possible quality and standing to all its learning programs;
- Opens its horizons for wide collaboration with all sectors of society, to help deliver our Dream Philippines, where families are strong and united, and where all other institutions —in business, government, and civil society—deliver transformative performance for the common good of every area or region, of every industry and sector in the country; and
- Builds effective bridges for collaborative endeavors promoting dialogue and cooperation between economies and polities in Asia as well as in the wider Asia Pacific region.
We bow our heads in a prayer of petition, asking for the Lord’s grace and for every virtue by which we can get this dream realized by 2068, when UA&P shall be celebrating the centennial of its foundation as CRC.
Mama Mary, Stella Orientis, prepare a safe way for UA&P in the five decades ahead.
